Obidos Castle

Inside the walls and near the Pousada of Obidos Castle you will find a look-out point as old as the ancient walls and cobblestone streets. In the shade of gorgeous oak trees, you can overlook the chapels and red roofs inside the walls of the wonderful castle. There are benches where you can sit and relax and simply be inspired by the history and romance of the castle. 

Sitio - Nazare

One of the most famous and iconic sites on the Silver Coast, on top of the majestic cliffs of Sitio, Nazare, with the most exquisite views over one of Portugal's oldest fishing towns, the long sandy beach, and the Atlantic Ocean. You can also buy dried nuts and fruits or fresh sea barnacles from the local ladies in their colourful outfits. The square up here is embraced by the incredible 14th-century Sanctuary of Our Lady of Nazare and surrounded by cafés and restaurants where you can try some traditional treats or enjoy delicious seafood and fish.

Pederneira - Nazare

Voted as one of the best look-out points in Nazare, and it’s easy to see why. Tucked away in a traditional suburb of Nazare, this look-out point is absolutely amazing. Overlooking the red roofs of the village, the Marina, out to the Atlantic Ocean with the cliffs to your right. With a place to sit, restaurants and cafés nearby, this is a fantastic spot to watch the sun disappear behind the sea.

Sao Martinho do Porto - Largo Comendador Jose Bento da Silva

On the north side of the village, on a hilltop, is a magnificent look-out point overlooking the bay of Sao Martinho do Porto. This spot, popular with the locals, is easily accessible by car and offers a 180-degree view of one the Silver Coast's most beautiful towns; the breathtaking bay entrance, sandy beaches and red roofs of the town below. On your way there, don't miss the town's beautiful eighteenth-century church or indulge in a delicious "trança" or "pastel de nata" at the famous Pastelaria Concha. You can descend to the village centre by stairs or the glass elevator, which is free and offers direct access to the local tourism office.

Sao Martinho do Porto - Cruzeiro and Saint Anthony's Chapel

Built in 1940 to mark the 800th anniversary of Portugal’s independence and the 300th anniversary of its Restoration, this religious monument is one of the most popular attractions in São Martinho do Porto. You can reach this viewpoint by car, where you can enjoy the beautiful view over the beach and the village, as well as visit the Chapel of Santo António, a place of refuge and faith for local fishermen for centuries.

Miradouro Salir do Porto

39°29'53.2"N 9°09'18"W

This look-out point in Salir do Porto is situated on the south bank of the bay of Sao Martinho do Porto and offers breathtaking views over the beaches and countryside. Access is through the centre of this small village; just drive towards the beach and turn left (there are several signs indicating "miradouro"). There is no specific parking nearby; you'll have to leave your car next to the local houses, but it is well worth the short walk. Just follow the stairs towards the hilltop cross, sit and enjoy the landscape where you can see the shell-shaped bay of Sao Martinho do Porto and all the way to the hills of serras de Aire and Candeeiros. 

Foz do Arelho - Wooden Walkways

39°26'25.9"N 9°13'17.4"W

A lookout point and a walking trail; from the hilltop you can walk down the wooden walkways towards the sensational Obidos Lagoon entrance. With the blue ocean as far as the eye can see, the Berlengas archipelago in the distance, and a refreshing sea breeze, this is what paradise feels like. Stop at a number of the sitting areas to smell the ocean and appreciate the magnificent surroundings.
